Apple Pay Auto-Log

Set up the PippMoney Wallet shortcut

For iPhone with iOS 17 or later.

PippMoney can log Apple Pay payments through an iOS Shortcuts Wallet automation. The important detail: the Wallet Amount must first go through a Text action, then that Text output is passed into PippMoney.

Do not map Wallet Amount directly into PippMoney’s Amount field. That can work when you press Play manually, but fail when a real Apple Pay payment triggers the automation.

Option 1: newer iOS direct automation

  1. Install or update PippMoney, then open the app once.
  2. Tap the button below on your iPhone.
  3. If Shortcuts opens a screen with When Any Card is tapped, add it and approve the Wallet automation.
  4. Choose the cards you want to track, set Automation to Run Immediately, and turn Notify When Run off.

Install Automation Shortcut

If opening this file shows a normal shortcut with Receive → Text Shortcut Input → Log Text instead of a Wallet automation trigger, your iOS version imported it as a helper shortcut. Use Option 2 below.

Option 2: older iOS helper shortcut

Some older iOS versions do not import shared Wallet automation triggers. They open the downloaded file as a normal shortcut that starts with Receive, then Text Shortcut Input, then Log Text. That is expected for this path.

  1. Install the helper shortcut below. When it opens, it should show Receive → Text Shortcut Input → Log Text.
  2. Tap Done to save the helper shortcut.
  3. Open ShortcutsAutomation → tap +.
  4. Choose the Wallet / Transaction trigger.
  5. Choose the cards you want, set Automation to Run Immediately, and turn Notify When Run off.
  6. For the action, choose Run Shortcut, then select PippMoney Wallet Auto Log Helper.

Install Older iOS Helper

Option 3: manual editable action list

  1. Open ShortcutsAutomation → tap +.
  2. Choose the Wallet / Transaction trigger so the top of the automation reads When Any Card is tapped.
  3. Leave Categories and Merchants as Choose, unless you want to filter them.
  4. Set Automation to Run Immediately.
  5. Turn Notify When Run off.
  6. Continue to the actions screen and choose New Blank Automation or Add Action. Do not choose the PippMoney action directly from the first suggested-action screen.
  7. Add a Text action. Inside it, insert the Wallet variable Amount.
  8. Add the PippMoney action Log Wallet Transaction.
  9. Set the PippMoney fields exactly like this:
PippMoney field Set it to
Amount The yellow Text output from the previous action
Currency Leave blank
Merchant Wallet variable Merchant
Card Wallet variable Card or Pass
Transaction Date Current Date

What the editable action list should look like

When iOS shows the editable action list, your automation should have three parts: the Wallet trigger, a Text action containing Amount, then Log Wallet Transaction with Amount set to Text. Currency should stay blank. If your iPhone only shows the summary screen, you may not see these fields there.
